Cloud DevOps Engineer Lead – AWS
Solutionara Private Limited is seeking a hands-on Cloud DevOps Engineer Lead with strong experience designing, building, migrating, automating, and operating production AWS environments for enterprise technology projects.
This is a senior technical delivery role requiring demonstrated hands-on expertise in AWS infrastructure creation, AWS migration, Terraform/IaC, Kubernetes/EKS, Docker, CI/CD, cloud networking, security, monitoring, production troubleshooting, and technical leadership.
The candidate should be capable of independently designing and provisioning AWS infrastructure from the ground up, including VPCs, CIDR/subnet architecture, route tables, Internet/NAT gateways, security groups, IAM, EC2/EKS, load balancing, Route 53, storage, databases, monitoring, high availability, backup, and disaster recovery.
AWS migration experience is mandatory. Candidates should have personally participated in or led migrations of production workloads from on-premises environments or other cloud platforms to AWS. Experience should include workload assessment, dependency identification, migration planning, target AWS architecture, migration execution, data/application migration, testing, cutover, downtime minimization, rollback planning, validation, and post-migration stabilization.
Strong hands-on Terraform experience is required. Candidates should understand reusable modules, environment separation, remote state, state locking/concurrent access, secrets and security, version control, change review, CI/CD integration, drift management, and recovery from failed infrastructure deployments.
Candidates should have strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes, preferably Amazon EKS, including container deployment, services, ingress/load balancing, health checks, autoscaling, secrets, monitoring, rolling deployments, rollback strategies, and production troubleshooting.
Strong CI/CD experience is required using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, AWS CodePipeline, ArgoCD, or equivalent technologies. Candidates should understand the complete delivery lifecycle from source-code commit through build, testing, security scanning, artifact/container management, deployment, validation, and production release.
The role requires strong knowledge of AWS networking, Linux, IAM/security, observability, logging, monitoring, high availability, backup/DR, and production incident management. Experience with CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch or comparable observability platforms is preferred.
As a Lead, the candidate must be able to troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root-cause analysis, make sound technical decisions, review infrastructure and deployment approaches, mentor engineers, communicate risks and dependencies, and collaborate with Solution Architects, developers, security teams, project managers, and client stakeholders.
Solutionara is an IT consulting and technology services organization supporting global and U.S.-based enterprise clients. Candidates should therefore be comfortable working in a client-focused consulting environment, managing multiple priorities, explaining technical issues clearly, and taking ownership of delivery outcomes.
Core Competencies for Assessment
Mandatory: AWS Infrastructure Design & Creation; AWS Migration; Terraform/Infrastructure as Code; Kubernetes/EKS; Docker; CI/CD; AWS Networking; Linux; Cloud Security/IAM; Production Troubleshooting.
Lead-level competencies: Technical Leadership; Architecture & Design Judgment; Incident/RCA Management; High Availability & Disaster Recovery; Monitoring/Observability; Client & Stakeholder Communication; Mentoring; Delivery Ownership.
Assessment emphasis: prioritize demonstrated hands-on production experience over theoretical knowledge. Candidates should be able to explain specific environments they personally built or migrated, their individual responsibilities, architecture decisions, implementation approach, problems encountered, troubleshooting performed, and outcomes achieved. Familiarity with tools without demonstrated implementation experience should not be considered equivalent to hands-on expertise.
Critical assessment rule: AWS infrastructure creation and AWS migration are must-have requirements. A strong overall DevOps score should not compensate for the absence of demonstrated experience in either of these areas.
