Backend SDET – 6+ Years Experience
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Backend SDET with 7+ years of experience in software testing and automation. The candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in backend/API automation, cloud technologies, database and cache validation, and quality engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend/API automation frameworks.
Build automated tests for functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end scenarios.
Develop API automation using Rest Assured with Java.
Work with BDD frameworks such as Cucumber and/or Karate.
Validate REST APIs, request/response payloads, authentication, authorization, error handling, and service integrations.
Perform database validation and backend data integrity testing.
Perform Redis validation, including key/value verification, TTL/expiry validation, cache invalidation, data consistency, and cache behavior.
Test microservices, service-to-service communication, and distributed backend systems.
Integrate automation suites into CI/CD pipelines.
Perform root-cause analysis of failures and collaborate with developers to resolve defects.
Define test strategies and identify backend quality risks.
Participate in release validation, regression, and production quality initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience
6+ years of experience in SDET, Software Testing, or Quality Engineering.
Strong hands-on experience in backend/API automation.
Strong programming experience in Java or equivalent.
Hands-on experience with Rest Assured.
Experience with Cucumber/BDD and/or Karate.
Strong understanding of REST APIs, HTTP, JSON, authentication, and authorization.
Experience with SQL and database validation.
Hands-on experience with Redis and cache validation.
Experience testing microservices and distributed systems.
Experience with Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
Hands-on experience with GCP or AWS.
Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Good to Have
Experience with AI/ML and GenAI applications, including LLM APIs, chatbots, AI agents, or AI evaluation.
Understanding of response quality, hallucination, prompt, and guardrail testing.
Experience with performance/load testing using JMeter, Gatling, Locust, or similar tools.
Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and observability tools.
Experience with Kafka or event-driven architectures.
Experience building automation frameworks from scratch.
