We are scaling our core platform and need an experienced Django engineer to own mission-critical services, optimize high-throughput data pipelines, and architect resilient APIs. You will join an engineering culture where deployment happens continuously, code reviews are rigorous, and architectural decisions prioritize latency, maintainability, and clean separation of concerns.
Design, build, and maintain production-grade RESTful APIs using Django and Django REST Framework.
Profile and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, write efficient migrations, and eliminate N+1 queries and connection bottlenecks.
Architect and monitor reliable asynchronous task queues using Celery and Redis.
Maintain comprehensive test suites using pytest and factory_boy to ensure zero-regression deployments.
Instrument distributed services with Datadog and Sentry to track latency regressions, error budgets, and system health.
Collaborate with product and frontend teams to define clean API contracts before writing code.
4–5 years of professional backend engineering experience using Python and Django in production environments.
Deep understanding of the Django ORM, query evaluation mechanics, middleware, and authentication systems.
Strong relational database fundamentals, specifically PostgreSQL query tuning, transaction isolation levels, and indexing strategies.
Hands-on experience running distributed task queues with Celery and Redis at scale.
Proficiency with Docker, containerized development workflows, and CI/CD pipelines.
Working knowledge of Linux environments and cloud deployment patterns on AWS or GCP.
Experience with event-driven systems using Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.
Familiarity with Django Channels, asyncio, or hybrid architectures utilizing FastAPI for high-concurrency microservices.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience using Terraform.
Prior contributions to open-source Python or Django projects.
