Support level: L2 Operations Domain: Database Administration Scope: Oracle, SQL Server, and Cloud Databases – hosted on public cloud (AWS preferred; Azure/GCP acceptable), via IaaS or PaaS/managed services; Patching, Backup & Recovery, Capacity & Performance
Support the client's databases in the public cloud (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP also considered), whether self-managed on IaaS or running as managed/PaaS services, in a 24x7 operations environment. Resolve L2 incidents and escalate to L3 when needed.
Process
· End-to-end incident management, from L1/L1.5 escalation to closure, following documented runbooks and SOPs.
· Monitor database and infrastructure alerts; triage and respond per standard procedures.
· Participate in On-Call/shift rotation for 24x7 coverage.
· Keep the database inventory aligned with the CMDB.
· Build, install, and configure new database instances (EC2-hosted or PaaS) from service requests to client standards. Run QA checks and document exceptions for client review.
· Patch databases on the client's rollout schedule, including urgent patches for critical vulnerabilities. Carry out minor upgrades, migrations, and fix packs.
· Perform patching and dev/test clones for Oracle E-Business Suite, where applicable.
· Run backups and restores (point-in-time and object-level). Report and fix backup failures immediately; participate in periodic restore/DR testing.
· Tune databases, SQL, and schemas, including indexes. Troubleshoot job failures and space alerts.
· Support capacity planning; FinOps Efforts, provide monthly capacity and performance reports.
· Run proactive database health checks as part of routine operations.
· Provision and manage access as per standard guidelines, and maintain audit/security logs, documenting exceptions as needed.
· Build scripts to automate routine database changes.
· Raise and implement changes through the client's change management process.
· Keep ServiceNow tickets current, with clear resolution and closure notes.
· Join RCA reviews; update SOPs and knowledge-base articles.
· Support migration of workloads into cloud-managed database services.
· Decommission databases per process.
