Role Overview
Lead DevOps (8+ years' experience) is responsible for architecting, defining, and driving deep technical DevOps, SRE, and platform engineering practices across enterprise-scale projects. This role focuses heavily on hands-on technical contributions, advanced AWS cloud architecture, hybrid integrations, security implementation, and automation excellence—moving away from direct people management toward pure technical leadership and solution engineering. The candidate will build scalable ecosystems, ensure robust security, and deliver flawless operational performance in complex AWS and hybrid environments.
Required Qualifications and Experience
8+ years in DevOps/SRE/Platform Engineering, including 3–5 years as an Architect/Lead with a proven track record in enterprise migrations, cost optimization, security enablement, and zero-incident deliveries.
Deep expertise in AWS (core services, landing zones, networking) alongside hybrid infrastructure, Terraform, Ansible, Helm, GitHub Actions CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Hands-on implementation of DevSecOps tools (Checkmarx, Snyk) and service mesh architecture (Istio, Envoy).
Strong proficiency in Middleware, CDN, Caching layers, and distributed Database systems.
Proven experience in technical customer engagements, architectural blueprinting, and contributing to complex RFP technical responses.
Strong communication skills for executive technical stakeholder management and cross-functional influence.
Comfortable working overlapping shifts to support US/UK timezone customers and ensure high-availability operational coverage for global deployments.
Key Responsibilities
AWS & Hybrid Architecture: Architect and implement enterprise-grade DevOps solutions across AWS and hybrid environments, ensuring seamless connectivity, security, and cloud-native scalability.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Design resilient, scalable systems using Terraform and Atlantis, focusing on strict cost optimization and high availability.
CI/CD Pipeline Engineering: Architect advanced CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, release orchestration, and DevSecOps integration to minimize vulnerabilities.
Migration & Containerization: Lead the migration of microservices to container-based frameworks on Kubernetes, achieving zero production incidents and reducing deployment times.
Service Mesh & API Gateways: Evaluate and implement container-native API gateways (Envoy, Istio Gateway) and service mesh capabilities for advanced traffic management, routing security, and microservices resilience.
Middleware & Data Integration: Integrate complex middleware (e.g., Kafka & Kafka Connectors), CDN (CloudFront), caching layers (Redis), and databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra) into high-performance distributed architectures.
Observability & Reliability: Implement robust observability frameworks utilizing OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, and Grafana tied to SLO-based error budgets.
Technical Thought Leadership: Act as a technical enabler and evangelist, influencing engineering standards and driving automation-led excellence across the product lifecycle without traditional people-management overhead.
Technical Leadership & Delivery Duties
Architect and design technical frameworks for SRE capabilities, driving automation, reliability engineering, and infrastructure resilience.
Engage directly with technical stakeholders for new client assignments, developing comprehensive technical architectures and RFP responses.
Champion open-source tooling, modern engineering culture, and continuous technical improvement across projects.
