RIRICEFW Technologies IncWeb Accessibility Assistant
The Department of Cultural & Community Engagement seeks a contractor who will work with the department’s Web Manager and the state’s information technology team to update department websites to meet elevated federal accessibility standards.
This position will be time-limited — estimated to be a three-month contract — based on completing current accessibility updates. This would be a good opportunity for those interested in building further skills in web accessibility and interface design, as well as working with Utah’s information technology team. Aptitude and demonstrated attention to detail is more important than years of experience in web development.
Under the direction of CCE’s Web Manager, the Web Accessibility Assistant will be primarily responsible for updating Wordpress websites (using Cornerstone templates) using the state’s technology tools. This person will make accessibility updates while retaining the pages’ design, and work with the Web Manager to problem-solve any accessibility issues. A secondary phase of the project will focus on remediating published PDF documents to bring them inline with federal accessibility standards.
This position will require training and regular attendance at the state’s twice-weekly virtual accessibility office hours. After training is completed, much of the work may be completed remotely, with regular checkins with the Web Manager.
Pay: $40 per hour for a three month-contract = $19,200.
CCE is the heart and soul of Utah state government serving communities across the state. The Web Accessibility Assistant will support these divisions:
