Role Scope: Junior Engineer – CPP
Department: Captive Power Plant (CPP)
Location: Meghalaya
Experience: 1–2 Years (Thermal Power Plant / Captive Power Plant Experience Preferred)
Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical
The Junior Engineer – CPP is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and maintenance activities of the Captive Power Plant in a cement manufacturing environment. The role involves assisting in safe and efficient operation of boilers, turbines, generators, auxiliary equipment, and associated systems to ensure reliable power generation for plant operations.
Monitor day-to-day operation of CPP equipment and systems.
Assist in operating and monitoring boilers, turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment.
Record operating parameters such as pressure, temperature, load, vibration, and other critical readings.
Identify abnormal operating conditions and immediately report deviations to the senior engineer.
Ensure equipment is operated within prescribed operating limits and SOPs.
Assist in monitoring boiler operating parameters and combustion conditions.
Support operation of AFBC/CFBC or other applicable boiler systems.
Monitor turbine parameters including steam pressure, temperature, speed, load, and vacuum.
Assist in monitoring feed water, cooling water, condensate, and other utility systems.
Support safe start-up, shutdown, and changeover activities as instructed.
Conduct routine inspection of CPP equipment and identify abnormalities.
Assist maintenance teams during preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
Monitor condition of pumps, fans, compressors, motors, conveyors, valves, and other auxiliary equipment.
Support identification of leakage, unusual noise, vibration, overheating, and other equipment abnormalities.
Follow preventive maintenance schedules and ensure proper documentation of activities.
Monitor power generation, plant load, auxiliary power consumption, and equipment performance.
Assist in maintaining optimum operating efficiency of the CPP.
Record and maintain shift-wise operational data and equipment parameters.
Support analysis of operational deviations and performance-related issues.
Coordinate with Process, Electrical, Mechanical, and other departments for uninterrupted power supply.
Follow CPP safety rules, SOPs, permit-to-work systems, and statutory requirements.
Ensure safe working practices during operation, inspection, and maintenance activities.
Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and emergency drills.
Use appropriate PPE while working in operational areas.
Immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment abnormalities, and incidents to the concerned senior.
Maintain shift logbooks, equipment readings, checklists, and operational records.
Prepare daily/shift-wise reports related to CPP operation and power generation.
Ensure proper handover and takeover of shift activities.
Coordinate with senior engineers, operators, and maintenance teams for smooth plant operation.
Assist in maintaining records related to equipment performance and maintenance activities.
Continuous and reliable CPP operation.
Achievement of planned power generation targets.
Minimization of unplanned equipment stoppages.
Proper monitoring of critical CPP equipment.
Timely identification and reporting of equipment abnormalities.
Support in preventive maintenance and equipment reliability.
Optimum operation of boilers, turbines, generators, and auxiliaries.
Monitoring of auxiliary power consumption and operating parameters.
Accurate recording and reporting of operational data.
Compliance with SOPs, safety procedures, and statutory requirements.
Zero safety violations related to assigned activities.
Proper use of PPE and adherence to permit-to-work procedures.
Basic knowledge of Thermal Power Plant / Captive Power Plant operations.
Knowledge of boiler, turbine, generator, and auxiliary equipment.
Basic understanding of AFBC/CFBC boiler operation is preferred.
Knowledge of steam cycle, feed water, condensate, cooling water, and utility systems.
Understanding of plant operating parameters and equipment monitoring.
Basic knowledge of preventive and breakdown maintenance.
Ability to read equipment manuals, SOPs, and operating parameters.
MS Excel, MS Word, and basic reporting skills.
Basic knowledge of DCS/SCADA systems is preferred.
