The Assistant Manager – IT will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company's network, servers, firewall, Wi-Fi, CCTV and cloud infrastructure across corporate and plant locations.
The role will also be responsible for team coordination, IT security, incident management, vendor management, infrastructure planning and ensuring high system availability.
Key Responsibilities
A. Network & Infrastructure Management
Manage and maintain L2/L3 network infrastructure, including Cisco/Aruba switches.
Manage VLANs, trucking, inter-VLAN routing, STP and LACP.
Monitor network performance, bandwidth, latency and uptime.
Ensure primary and backup ISP links are available.
Coordinate with ISPs for network issues and link failures.
Maintain network diagrams, IP plans, rack layouts and documentation.
Plan network upgrades and infrastructure improvements.
Identify recurring network issues and implement permanent solutions.
B. Firewall, Security & VPN
Manage Fortinet FortiGate / Sophos firewalls.
Manage firewall policies, NAT, IPS, application control and web filtering.
Configure and troubleshoot Site-to-Site IPsec VPN and SSL-VPN.
Monitor firewall logs and security alerts.
Ensure regular firewall backup and firmware updates.
Review firewall rules periodically and remove unnecessary access.
Support implementation of IT security policies and controls.
C. Server & System Administration
Manage Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 environments.
Manage Active Directory, GPO, DNS and DHCP.
Manage user accounts, groups and access permissions.
Ensure proper RBAC and least-privilege access.
Manage VMware ESXi / Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
Monitor server performance, storage and virtual machines.
Ensure regular server patching and backups.
Conduct disaster recovery and backup restoration tests.
D. Wi-Fi Infrastructure
Manage enterprise Wi-Fi infrastructure such as Cisco Meraki, Aruba or Ubiquiti.
Configure Corporate, Guest and IoT wireless networks.
Ensure secure authentication through WPA-Enterprise / 802.1X.
Troubleshoot coverage, interference, roaming and bandwidth issues.
Monitor Wi-Fi performance and user experience.
E. CCTV & Surveillance Network
Manage IP CCTV cameras, NVRs and surveillance storage.
Maintain dedicated CCTV VLANs.
Monitor PoE switch capacity and CCTV network performance.
Ensure continuous recording and minimum recording gaps.
Coordinate with CCTV OEMs/vendors for maintenance and troubleshooting.
Plan storage requirements based on camera count, bitrate and retention period.
F. Cloud & Microsoft 365
Support Microsoft Azure / AWS cloud infrastructure.
Manage basic cloud VMs, storage and connectivity.
Support Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD Connect.
Support Microsoft 365 administration.
Ensure secure connectivity between office, plant and cloud environments.
G. Team & Incident Management
Lead and coordinate the IT infrastructure support team.
Assign daily tasks and monitor completion.
Provide L2/L3 escalation support.
Handle critical IT incidents and ensure resolution within SLA.
Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major incidents.
Prepare incident reports and corrective action plans.
Ensure timely communication with management during critical incidents.
H. Vendor Management
Manage ISPs, hardware vendors, OEMs and system integrators.
Monitor vendor performance against agreed SLAs.
Coordinate AMC, warranty and maintenance activities.
Review vendor issues and ensure timely closure.
Support vendor evaluation and technical discussions.
I. IT Governance & Security
Maintain IT asset and software inventory.
Monitor hardware warranties and lifecycle replacement.
Ensure software licensing compliance.
Implement IT security policies and access controls.
Support vulnerability management and patch compliance.
Maintain proper IT infrastructure documentation.
Participate in IT audits and compliance activities.
3. Required Technical Skills & Competencies
Networking: L2/L3 Routing & Switching, TCP/IP, Inter-VLAN Routing, Subnetting, STP, Link Aggregation (LACP).
Hardware & Vendors: Cisco Switches, Aruba Switches, Cisco Meraki / Ubiquiti APs.
Perimeter Security: Fortinet FortiGate, Sophos Firewall, IPsec VPN, SSL-VPN, NAT, Web/URL Filtering.
Operating Systems & Directory: Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP, PowerShell scripting.
Virtualization: VMware ESXi / Microsoft Hyper-V.
Surveillance: IP Surveillance, Hikvision/Dahua NVR management, PoE Switching, Video Storage Retention.
Cloud & Collaboration: Microsoft 365, Azure / AWS Cloud Fundamentals.
