Role Scope: Sr. Engineer/ Engineer – AFBC Boiler

Location: Meghalaya
Experience: 5–7 Years' experience in AFBC Boiler operations in Thermal Power Plant / Captive Power Plant
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering / Power Engineering
The Engineer / Sr. Engineer – AFBC Boiler will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of AFBC Boiler systems in the Captive Power Plant. The role involves monitoring boiler performance, optimizing combustion efficiency, ensuring statutory compliance, coordinating with turbine and electrical teams, minimizing downtime, and maintaining high standards of safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence.
Ensure safe and efficient operation of AFBC Boilers as per SOPs.
Monitor boiler parameters including steam pressure, steam temperature, bed temperature, furnace draft, fuel feed, and combustion efficiency.
Maintain optimum boiler efficiency while ensuring uninterrupted steam generation.
Optimize fuel consumption and minimize auxiliary power consumption.
Monitor ash handling, bed material quality, and combustion performance.
Analyze boiler operating trends and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain proper air-fuel ratio for efficient combustion.
Monitor emissions and ensure compliance with pollution control norms.
Identify operational abnormalities and initiate timely corrective measures.
Support initiatives for efficiency improvement and energy conservation.
Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
Assist mechanical and electrical maintenance teams during shutdowns.
Report equipment abnormalities for timely maintenance planning.
Ensure readiness of standby equipment before operation.
Participate in annual shutdown planning and execution.
Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations and company safety standards.
Follow Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures during maintenance.
Conduct routine safety inspections and hazard identification.
Ensure proper housekeeping in boiler and auxiliary areas.
Maintain compliance with environmental norms related to emissions and ash handling.
Maintain daily operating logs and shift reports.
Record boiler operating parameters and equipment performance.
Prepare reports on fuel consumption, steam generation, boiler efficiency, and downtime.
Report operational deviations to higher management.
Maintain shift handover records and operational checklists.
Coordinate with Turbine, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Maintenance departments for smooth plant operation.
Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) of operational issues.
Recommend improvements to enhance boiler reliability and efficiency.
Support implementation of energy-saving initiatives.
Assist in commissioning, modifications, and improvement projects.

Knowledge of ID Fan, FD Fan, PA Fan, ESP, DM Plant, and Water Treatment Systems
Familiarity with DCS/PLC-based boiler operation
Understanding of boiler efficiency calculations and heat balance
Knowledge of pollution control equipment and environmental compliance
Working knowledge of MS Excel and operational reporting
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Excellent decision-making ability during operational emergencies
